Advances in Endoscopy

چکیده
AB A number of therapeutic options have been available for years. Their respective efficacies depend on, to a certain extent, the etiology of the bleeding, whether the bleeding is occurring in the upper or lower gastrointestinal tract, and whether the bleeding is malignant or nonmalignant. Even within nonmalignant bleeding, there exist various causes, including ulcers or nonulcer etiologies with varying natural histories. One of the traditional options for delivering endoscopic hemostasis is thermal therapy, of which there are numerous types, including both contact and noncontact methods of delivery. There also exists injection therapy (usually injection of epinephrine mixed with saline). Finally, there are mechanical methods of hemostasis, which include endoscopic clips (likely the most widely applied mechanical measure currently being used), as well as ligation band devices in addition to other technologies.

The field of gastroenterology has had an abundance of technological advances in recent years, especially in the field of endoscopy. These advances are helpful to clinicians approaching gastrointestinal blood loss, especially in the small bowel. The authors report a case of a man who presented to the emergency department with obscure gastrointestinal blood loss. Results of an esophagogastroduode...

The rapidly moving technological advances in gastrointestinal endoscopy have enhanced an endoscopist's ability to diagnose and treat lesions within the gastrointestinal tract. The improvement in image quality created by the advent of high-definition and magnification endoscopy, alongside image enhancement, produces images of superb quality and detail that empower the endoscopist to identify imp...
متن کاملTherapeutic management options for patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding.
Obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB) is one of the most challenging disorders faced by gastroenterologists because of its evasive nature and difficulty in identifying the exact source of bleeding. Recent technological advances such as video capsule endoscopy and small bowel deep enteroscopy have revolutionized the diagnosis and management of patients with OGIB. In this paper, we review the ...

Advances in endoscopy and anesthesia have enabled gastrointestinal endoscopy for children since 1960. Over the past decades, the number of endoscopies has increased rapidly. As specialized teams of pediatric gastroenterologists, pediatric intensive care physicians and pediatric endoscopy nurses are available in many medical centers, safe and effective procedures have been established. Therefore...
متن کاملNew endoscopy advances to refine adenoma detection rate for colorectal cancer screening: None is the winner
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in males and second in females, and globally the fourth cause for cancer death worldwide. Oncological screening of CRC has a major role in the management of the disease and it is mostly performed by colonoscopy. Anyway, effectiveness of endoscopic screening for CRC strictly depends on adequate detection and removal of potentially precancer...
